HOCKEY PLAYER/COACH POSITION

Outline Job Description
Background: Victorians Ladies Hockey Club is a top level club based in Belfast. It has some 150 playing members and runs 4 league teams and thriving junior and mini-hockey sections. Victorians is an open and highly progressive club that has invested significantly in developing players through its junior hockey programmes & building a sustainable coaching infrastructure. A number of talented young players are playing for our 1st & 2nd X1s, some of whom have gone on to Ulster/Ireland under-age levels.
Job Requirements :
Playing experience at Premier League or higher level.
Irish Level 1 Coaching Badge at least.
Possess good communication skills.
Desirable :
Beneficial to be aware of and be able to coach the latest concepts in team organisation and tactical approaches and individual technical skills.
Main Task Requirements :

To plan, organise and run a fitness and skills build up to the new season.

To maintain fitness and player skills levels throughout the season.

To give personal commitment to playing Saturday league/cup matches, plus mid-week matches as arranged.

To prepare/organise the senior team for match days and the on-field activities.

To plan, organise and run twice weekly evening practices and coaching.

To help develop the crop of talented young players into established Premier League level players.

To use networks and/or reputation to attract new players to the club who have played or could play at Premier League level.

To report weekly to the club committee and input views to the committee as well as at ‘selection’.
The position is for the duration of the 2009/10 season, with the possibility that it could be for longer. The role presents a great opportunity to work at a high level of playing & coaching, focussing on developing the senior squad & helping bring through the talented young players. The level of remuneration will be up for negotiation & dependant on ability/qualification.
